Appointment Policies

  • We schedule longer appointments during school and working hours and shorter appointments before/after school or working hours. By doing this, we avoid reserving the entire afternoon for one or two patients and are able to accommodate as many patients as possible for after school appointments. If you prefer to come to the office during a quieter time, please schedule an appointment during school hours.
  • In an effort to honor our patient’s time and minimize time spent waiting in our office, we ask patients to brush their teeth and check in prior to their scheduled appointment time. Disposable, individually wrapped toothbrushes are provided for each patient visit and are pre-pasted with toothpaste.
  • We understand that patients in orthodontic treatment have other important obligations during the day. However, during active orthodontic treatment, we will need to see you every 6-8 weeks, and some of these appointments may conflict with your work or school schedule. We will make every effort possible to schedule appointments at your convenience. For this reason, we see patients on some teacher workdays and school holidays.
  • School excuse forms are provided as a convenience in keeping with your school’s attendance policy. Most schools have been very co-operative in this matter and share our concern about improving their students’ dental health.
  • Please let us know you have arrived by checking in on our reception computer screen before taking a seat.
  • Because our schedule is carefully designed so we don’t keep people waiting, a patient who arrives late can pose a problem. In these instances, we will make every effort to be accommodating. However, in such cases we may sometimes need to reschedule the appointment.
  • Our intention is to value your time as well as that of the patients scheduled after you. Please arrive on time for your scheduled appointment.
  • If you cannot keep a scheduled appointment, please inform our office at least 24 hours in advance. Please understand that when you miss an appointment, you delay the progress of your treatment.
  • Before each appointment, you may expect a reminder call from our office.
  • In addition, our office has uses an electronic communication system called T-Link® that will e-mail appointment reminders and enable on-line access to scheduling and account information – we encourage you to register to take advantage of this new technology! We will ask for a parent’s email address so you can benefit from this convenient service.
