Dr. Shapiro shares in this belief and works together with you and your family dentist for a beautiful smile.
Dr. David Shapiro has been practicing orthodontics at his Thornhill location since 2002 after having completed his Master’s degree in Orthodontics from the University of Toronto. Prior to his specialty training he received his dental training also from the University of Toronto (1998) and completed a residency training program at the Hamilton Health Sciences Center (1999).
Dr. Shapiro is a Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada and is active in a number of local and national associations including the:
- Canadian Association of Orthodontists
- American Association of Orthodontists
- Ontario Association of Orthodontists
His main clinical interest lies in the field of orthodontic biomechanics, the science that deals with the application of forces to the teeth and supporting tissues. He also has a research background in dental anxiety and has published a number of articles in this field, allowing him to bring a unique and gentle approach to patients of all ages.
To provide the best overall care possible, Dr. Shapiro closely works with your family dentist and other dental specialties (ie. oral and maxillofacial surgeons, periodontists, endodontists, etc) whenever required.
On a personal side, Dr. Shapiro is actively involved in his community and enjoys providing his time and support to several charitable organizations. He has been married to his wife, Jody, since 1995 and has two wonderful daughters, Alison & Jessica.
